The Avocado Tree

so where does this story even begin??? - last april we moved into our home - what an amazing gift this home was and has continued to be for our family - well in our back yard stood this very large avocado tree - i love avocados and was excited to be able to eat as many as i wanted with out paying the ridiculous price that the stores charge you for them - august rolled around and hundreds of little tiny bulbs began to grow on my tree - life is gonna be good with all this fruit - around november they were big but were not getting soft - okay i didn't know that they never soften on the tree, you have to pluck them off - so i did i took about 100 of them off - gave them away and kept a few - they never ripened the right way - they were gross, not edible at all - i was so embarrassed that i had given so many away - of course no one dared tell me the fruit was bad - sad huh? - so i began to really look into this avocado issue - i had people tell me that my tree wasn't a good tree and all kinds of crazy stories - of course i believed some of them at the time - then i ignored my tree and just kept watering it the right way - in February i decided to give it another try, however, this time these things were absolutely giant size avocados not like the ones you find in the stores - i pulled 10 brown handled grocery bags 1/2 full (the weight was breaking the bags) - took them to church and let whoever wanted them take them - the rave reviews began to come in they were great - now at this point i didn't know for my self because i just didn't want to eat them - - - -there is something you need to know RATS LOVE AVOCADOS -the beast from the pit of hell have taken up housing in my attic and have been living a blissful life with all my avocados - how dare this enemy come around my fruit - -now i have a new best friend carlos, my bald headed best friend who by occupation is a sweet young man who is employed with Total Extermination - but for me he is Carlos The Annihilator Of The Beast From Hell - i got to thinking about how profound it is that once we begin to produce the good fruit in our lives the enemy comes to take it for himself - as long as that fruit looked good but really wasn't, he could care less about coming and eating it up - he thrives on the good fruit - he needs to steal it away - It's a good thing I have Carlos ;0) - - - i have about 50 more avocados up real high in the tree (closest to the son - i mean sun) they are ginormous - i get a call from a friend at church and she wants them for her sunday party she is having with her friends - - now what you need to know is i do not do ladders, i'm afraid - the last thing i want to do is go climbing a big tree - i'm not so young any more, not that i was ever really the tree climbing kind of gal - anyway what do i do? do i tell her no and not allow people to eat of my good fruit or do i make the sacrifice and climb that tree risking a broken leg or even worse my life - or there is always the dreaded ladder - i sucked it up and said yes and the journey began, me a ladder and the avocado tree with beautiful fruit - okay i'll save the melodramatic effect for another time - i got a bag for her and realized that it's not my choice who i allow to be blessed by my fruit, the truth is the Good Lord made that tree and gave water and sun to that tree the only possession of it that's mine is it happens to be in my living space - what i have is His and He gives as He chooses, i don't get to choose where the fruit goes - so my friend will have amazing guacamola on sunday - the beast are just about all gone, I signed a contract with Carlos and he is here as often as i need him to be taking the dead beast away - you see Carlos has blocked them in the attic - has food for them(on beast killing machines) and he comes and takes the dead away and sets the traps again. His way works so I'll leave him to do what he does best - - soon all my fruit will be gone and it will be time to cut the tree back and wait for the next season of good fruit bearing to happen my job is to just keep on watering.

after the harvest the trees get cut back - we can't keep living in the past, yesterday doesn't matter God isn't going to continue to bless according to what we did for Him before, it's gone - allow the new season to begin and new fruit will be produced in it's time of season and we will find our blessings in the new fruit.

Isa 18:5
For, before the harvest, when the blossom is gone and the flower becomes a ripening grape, he will cut off the shoots with pruning knives, and cut down and take away the spreading branches.

Mt 12:33
"Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit

1Pe 5:8
Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
